Why Dry Needling?
-
Dry needling is a form of therapy in which very fine needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points (painful knots in muscles), tendons, ligaments, or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful or tight areas of the body. Dry needling is not acupuncture or Oriental Medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of altering the flow of energy (āQiā) along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases.
-
Dry needling is a modern, evidence-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or low back pain.

After graduating from an accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program and passing her national physical therapy licensure exam, Georgia learned from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT) for her DN-1 and DN-2 certifications. She is fully certified for the practice of dry needling.

Dry needling can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow to an area, and decrease local and referred pain. Most people have the potential to benefit from dry needling - from the elite athlete to the corporate worker. If you have a musculoskeletal disorder or pain (ex. tendonitis, muscle strain, etc.), you may benefit from dry needling!
